Version 5.4, Build 1861, Release date 07-09-2004

  1. Delegation. Fix. When managing services from the delegation client, and a machine did have a very large numeber of services, the UM delegation client reported an error when collecting them. This has been fixed.(1859,06-10-2004)

  2. Run command line. Modification: when removing users, the command line specified is now run before any other operation on the user, instead of after the deletion. This allows the run command to access the user data before it potentially deleted by the remove operation.(1859,06-10-2004)

  3. General. Fix. When using the "search OU" button to search for w2000 orginazational units (in configure /setup domains), a rare error situation was not properly handled, and caused the application to hang. This has been fixed.(1861,07-09-2004)

Version 5.4, Build 1853, Release date 08-19-2003

  1. Import. Fix. The option "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object". was not always set correctly for home directories when using the Import functionality. Now it is set appropriatly, according to the specifications in the general settings.

Version 5.4, Build 1843, Release date 02-18-2003

  1. Move users's resources for Mac files. Enhancement. Modified the file copy process when moving NTFS home directories: added support for copying multi-stream files. Alhough windows NT and windows 2000 do not use multi-stream files, other operating systems may create such files, and these are now correctly copied when home directories are moved (1843).

Version 5.4, Build 1842, Release date 12-02-2002

  1. Manage Passwords Enhancement. The option in configuration/setup general settings/passwords, wich enables to generate random passwords, is now also implemented for modifying existing users. Earlier it was only implemented when creating new users.(1842, 12-02-2002)

  2. Delegation Enhancement. The option in configuration/setup general settings/passwords, wich enables to generate random passwords, is now also implemented in UserManagment Delegation. Earlier it was only implemented in UserManagment Professional (1842, 12-02-2002)

  2. Import. Fix. Value conversion table. If the number of entries in the value conversion table for a single variable was very large, then after a certain number of entries (in the order of 150, depending on size of each entry), the rest of the entries in the table where discarded. The the maximum number of entries has been increased by a factor of 8.(1839, 10-16-2002)

  3. Delegation: Fix. On XP, the browsing for domains in the configuration dialog for the setting of the rights of the delegated users of the program failed in certain circumstances. This now works.(1839, 10-16-2002)

  4. Import. Fix. When specifying the format for the export file, the dropdownbox now correctly list the correct names for the variables that refer directly to the import fields. The names of these variables have been changed since build 1830 to prevent confusion with predefined variables of the same name, but the list box showed still the old names. Also, for backwards compatability, the default old names of these variables are also accepted again (%f1%, %f2%, etc). (1836, 10-10-2002)

  5. Browsing for w2k OU's. Fix. In some circumstances, when the workstation running UserManagmeNT was is a different domain as the domain of the w2k account running the application, browsing for w2k domains succeeded, but browsing for OU's failed in the configure/setup domain tab. This has been solved. (1835, 10-08-2002)

  6. NTFS access rights (ACL) on Home Drectories and Profiles. For Windows 2000 and XP, it is now possible to set the option "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object". This setting will allow windows to update the permissions when access rights of the parent directory are modified. (1834, 10-04-2002)

  7. General: New feature added: When selecting users in the "Manage Password", "Remove user" or "Move users's resources" tabs, You can optionally specify that the full name of the user must be shown.(1834, 10-04-2002)

  8. Username syntax specification: New feature added. You can now optionally specify that the automatically generated username must be unique across all configured domains, instead of only in the domain its is created in.1834, 10-04-2002)

  9. Import: Fix. Updating an existing user that has a "," in the full name will now succeed.(1834, 10-04-2002)

  10. Create User: Fix. In some cases, when creating a new user in windows2000, Updating the setting "user cannot change password". failed because a Windows 2000 function to translate between different formats of user object failed. We have changed the method, so this translation is done by an other method.(1834, 10-04-2002)

  11. General: Increased the number of exceptions that can be configured in the general settings to over 400.(1828, 08-09-2002)

  16. Import: Fix. If the user renamed the import field names (f1,f2,f3 etc). a name conflict could arise between the modified name of the import field and predefined variables used in UM import. This is solved. As a consequense, if the import field is used as a variable it should from now on be referenced as %IMPORTFIELD_<variable name>%. Thus if a import field is renamed to eg "username", it should be referenced as %IMPORTFIELD_USERNAME% (1830, 16-09-2002)

  17. Import: New feature added: When creating and/or updating a user, and a template is specified, the user's primary group is taken from the specification in the template if specified, instead of using the default value, in both w2k and NT4. Prior the primary group was only used when creating the user with the "create user" tab and only for NT4 accounts. (1828, 08-09-2002)

  18. Create user: New feature added: The primary group specification in the template file is now also used when creating w2k accounts. Prior it was only implemented for NT4 accounts. (1828, 08-09-2002)

  19. Manage Password; fix. When using w2k, this option now uses direct Active Directory calls instead of NT4 compatible calls. In some specific circumstances, the NT4 call could fail on a win2k computer. (1830, 16-09-2002)

  4. Create user: New feature added: In the general configuration it is now possible to specify in addition to the user description, an extra user comment. This is filled in the extra user comment field available in NT4. Note that many NT4 applications do not expose this field, but some do, and now it is possible to set its contents. Default this field is not shown when creating a user. You can create a custom field and keyword if you want to specify the field on a per user base. See Specifying user attributes and properties for general information.(1817,3-1-2002)

  9. Create user: Fixed a problem with the optional "additional user properties" window. When the default value of a field consisted entirely of space characters, this was not saved correctly in the um.ini file, which caused the field not to be displayed. (1819,03-14-2002 )

Version 5.4, Build 1811, Release date 1-18-2002

  1. Windows 2000-Exchange 5.5: When Exchange 5.5 was installed on a NT4 or Windows 2000 server in a Windows2000 domain with more than one domain controller in the domain, and UsermanagmeNT was not running on the PDC emulator, the creation of Exchange 5.5 email boxes could fail for new users, because the new created user account might be not yet known on the PDC emulator, due to synchonisation delays. This problem has been solved by inplementing the option "Always get user info from primary domain controller", also for Windows2000. See Specify domains, OU's and users to manage.

  2. General: When opening the list of accounts to choose from for removing users, or managing passwords, this could take a very long time if the program was updating its local list of users in the background, for very large networks. This has been solved.

Also, more documentation is available that described how to convert from a stand-alone installation to a network installation.

  3. General: A bug is fixed regarding the group configuration in units, departments and locations. In previous releases, the global group configuration was lost when the user changed the domains managed by UserManagemeNT. This is fixed.

  4. Remove user: UserManagemeNT now supports the deletion of files and directories in the home directory with the attribute read-only set. In previous release an error occurred when UserManagemeNT tried to delete the file or directory.

  3. Remove user: When Exchange mailboxes are deleted, but no Exchange recipient container is specified, UserManagemeNT will prompt you to do so automatically.

  4. General: Several bugs that occurred using the keyword %DEPARTMENT% have been fixed. The keyword is now supported when importing users and the import file contains a specification of the field "Department" (1), or the value is obtained through the general template (2), or when the value is used with the Move users’ recourses operation (3).

  5. General: When multiple tasks are initiated, all tasks will be executed properly. In previous versions of UserManagemeNT, is was possible that a single or several tasks were not executed. When the user terminated the UserManagemeNT application, a message showed that these tasks were still pending. Unfortunately, they were never executed.

  6. Exchange: When configuring attributes in user templates for Exchange mailboxes, new attributes are inserted at the end of the attribute list, not at the beginning.

  7. Exchange: A debug option is implemented: If UserManagemeNT is started with the /DEBUG option in the command line, the main log tab shows all recipients and associated Windows NT accounts when recipient containers are evaluated.

  8. Permissions: The permission specification No Access is now used in the correct order in all cases. (In Access Control Lists for home directories and files, this permission cannot be preceded by permission granting access. This was not always the case with previous versions of UserManagemeNT).

  9. WWW-update: Periodically, UserManagemeNT will contact the WWW-site http://www.tools4ever.com to check if a new version is available. See WWW update information for more information.

  2. Move: The keywords %DEPARTMENT%, %OU%, and %OU_LOCATION% are interpreted correctly when these keywords are used for instance in the description of a user.

  3. Member servers: UserManagemeNT support the specification of server related objects. For instance when you want to specify a permission entry for a local group on a member server (non domain controller), this group can be specified as \\ServerName\LocalGroupName. These server related objects must be specified by using the servername starting with a double backslash (\\ServerName).

  4. Username generation: When "Custom username generation" is used, and the "Username format string" ended with %, which is not a correct specification, the UserManagemeNT application ended in an endless loop when a name was made unique. This is fixed.

  5. Import: The option "Password expired", specified as "Yes" or "No" in the import file or obtained from the General settings is now interpreted correctly.

  6. Import: The keywords %FIRST_NAME%, %INITIALS% and %LAST_NAME% can now be used if these are not used to compose the username itself. This is for instance the case, if the username is specified directly in the import file.

  7. General: The number of supported user templates is increased. In previous versions the number of templates was restricted to about 30 templates, depending on the name of the profile and associated template filenames. This is increased to 600 user templates.

  8. Exchange: UserManagemeNT can now check if a mailbox with the same name already exists when you want to create a new mailbox. See Configure task: Exchange for more information.

  4. Exchange: Exchange attributes can be imported directly from the import file into the Exchange directory. See Importing Exchange attributes for more information.

  5. Import: The export file, generated while you are importing data, can contain the assigned fields and the values from the import file.

  6. Import: With UserManagemeNT Import, the contents of the field rest-of-line shown in the import view was not correct if the previous field contents was enclosed in quotes ("). This is fixed and had no influence on the import process itself.
