This topic describes how to successfully migrate passwords from Windows NT4 user accounts to Windows 2000 Active Directory user accounts using ADMT and MigrateMagic.
Use ADMT's User Migration Wizard to migrate Windows NT4 user accounts to a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain.
Choose source and target domain: the source should be a Windows NT4 domain, while the target has to be a Windows 2000 domain.
Select the users from the Windows NT4 domain you want to migrate to Windows 2000.
Do not remove the original NT4 user account as MigrateMagic needs it to extract the password from.
Select a name mapping option. This can be a prefix and/or a suffix, which is added to the user name.
Once the wizard has completed, all selected user accounts are now migrated to Windows 2000 and still exist in Windows NT4.
Use MigrateMagic's Password Migration wizard to migrate passwords from Windows NT4 user accounts to Windows 2000 user accounts.
Choose source and target domain. Select the same source and target domain as in ADMT's User Migration Wizard.
Select from which user accounts you want to copy the passwords to the corresponding user accounts in the target domain. Select the same users as in ADMT's User Migration Wizard.
Choose a user account mapping option. If you didn't apply a prefix and/or suffix to the user accounts with ADMT's User Migration Wizard, choose the first option. If you applied a prefix or a suffix with ADMT, choose the corresponding option.
When the wizard completes, all passwords are copied from the selected Windows NT4 user accounts to the corresponding Windows 2000 user accounts.
