Using ADMT and MigrateMagic to cleanup user accounts
This topic describes how to successfully cleanup
disabled and/or expired Windows 2000 Active Directory user accounts
using ADMT and MigrateMagic.
Migrate Windows NT4 user accounts with ADMT (Migration)
Use ADMT's User Migration Wizard to migrate Windows NT4 user accounts
to a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain.
Choose source and target
domain: the source should be a Windows NT4 domain, while the target has
to be a Windows 2000 domain.
Select the users from
the Windows NT4 domain you want to migrate to Windows 2000.
Do not remove the original
NT4 user account as MigrateMagic needs it to extract the password from.
Select a name mapping
option. This can be a prefix and/or a suffix, which is added to the user
name.
- Finish the wizard to start the migration process.
Once the wizard has completed, all selected user accounts are now migrated
to Windows 2000 and still exist in Windows NT4.
Cleanup disabled/expired user accounts with MigrateMagic (Post-migration)
When all user accounts are migrated from Windows NT4 to Windows 2000,
you may want to get rid of unused disabled and/or expired user accounts.
MigrateMagic's User Cleanup wizard allows you to remove these user accounts.
Choose
target domain. Select the same target domain as in ADMT's User Migration
Wizard.
Select
which type of user account you want to remove. This can be disabled
and/or expired user accounts.
Select
which user accounts should be deleted. To prevent a user account from
being deleted, uncheck its checkbox in the list.
- Finish the wizard to start the cleanup process.
When the wizard completes, all selected user
accounts have been removed from the Active Directory.
