Using the Remote Desktop

 

When the remote desktop is displayed, all input is sent to the remote desktop. With the exception of mouse movement and clicks; they must be within the client window to be send to the remote machine.

Not all input can be sent to the remote desktop automatically. Special keys like CTRL-ALT-DELETE and CTRL-SHIFT-ESC must be sent through the 'Remote Computer' menu or from the toolbar as specified below.

 

The Toolbar

 

Some of the functions of AdminMagic can be easily accessed through the toolbar. Below is a list of the functions on the toolbar.

 

 

  • Open - Opens a window to the selected computer.

 

  • Refresh - Refreshes the entire remote desktop.

  • Full Screen - Toggles between full screen and normal view.

  • Scale to Fit - Toggels between full size and scaled to fit

 

  • Shutdown - The remote machine is shutdown and if possible the power is turned off.

  • Reboot - Reboots the remote machine.

  • Logoff - Log's off the current user on the remote machine.

 

  • CTRL-ALT-DELETE - Simulates CTRL-ALT-DELETE on the remote machine. (This will allow you to logon, unlock workstation, etc.)

  • CTRL-SHIFT-ESC - Simulates CTRL-SHIFT-ESC on the remote machine. (The taskmanager)

  • ALT-F4 - Simulates ALT-F4 on the remote machine (Close application)
