Background information

The User Management Resource Administrator (UMRA) AUTOMATION module can connect directory services and external information systems. Examples of external information systems are:

  • HR systems
  • Phonebook applications
  • SIS (Student Information Systems)
  • PABX
  • Facility Management systems
  • Etc.

In case of an HR system for example, a new employee record is added to the HR system when a new employee enters the company. Probably because the HR system maintains salary information as well, the HR system is almost always very accurate and up-to-date. When connecting such a system with the directory service, employees leaving the company automatically loose all rights to (remotely) access any network information. A connector between the HR system and the directory service would therefore help to secure the network of the organization.

The scheduler of UMRA AUTOMATION can automatically execute a job every night to detect differences between the various systems and the directory service. The software automatically detects if an employee is added, updated or removed. This way it is possible to create a user account automatically or to move an existing user account when someone changes jobs.

By running a full scan every night, all transactions in one system (HR) will be propagated to the other system (directory service) and it is ensured that the user accounts are always up-to-date after a synchronization cycle.

When synchronizing two systems, one needs to define exactly what should happen with the directory service items when records in the primary system change. UMRA AUTOMATION offers all functions to implement the required updates.
