2002 MAPI security |

Problem |
| When sending MAPI email alarm actions
using SpaceGuard SRM, the messages do not arrive while
the profile has been configured correctly and works using
Outlook. Also, when testing the MAPI email alarm action,
the SpaceGuard SRM dialog box displaying the sending
status stays on the desktop for a long time. What is
wrong? |

Cause |
| When using Outlook 2000 with the Email
security patch or Outlook 2002, SpaceGuard SRM will encounter
a blocking mechanism built by Microsoft to improve email
security. Normally, this would result in a popup which
can be acknowledged by the user working at the computer,
but since the SpaceGuard SRM service handles the MAPI
alarm actions, the popup will be not displayed and cannot
be acknowledged. |

Solution |
| The Outlook default automation security
needs to be modifed for Outlook to automatically approve
sending simple MAPI email messages used by SpaceGuard
SRM: |

| 1. |
Download and run the ADMPACK.EXE file
from this
link (provided by Microsoft) |
| 2. |
Extract the contents of the file to <drive>:\ADMPACK |
| 3. |
Run regsvr32 <drive>:\ADMPACK\hashctl.dll |
| 4. |
Run regsvr32 <drive>:\ADMPACK\comdlg32.ocx |
| 5. |
Right-click on the file OutlookSecurity.oft and
select "Open" |
| 6. |
In the "Select Folder" dialog, browse
to Public Folders, All Public Folders and create
a folder named "Outlook Security Settings" and click
OK. |
| 7. |
Click the "Programmatic Settings" tab
and enable the "Automatically approve" option
for "When sending items via Simple MAPI". |
| 8. |
On the "Tools" menu, point to "Forms", then click
"Publish Form". |
| 9. |
In the "Display name" field, type "Outlook Security
Form", and make sure it is published in the "Outlook
Security Settings" folder. |
| 10. |
Close the open window and choose NOT to save the
document. |
| 11. |
Start Outlook, Click on dropdown arrow in the
"New >" button on the toolbar and select "Choose
Form"
from
the
list. |
| 12. |
Browse to the "Outlook Security Settings" folder
and select the "Outlook Security Form" form. |
| 13. |
Close the open window and choose "Yes" when asked
for a save confirmation. |

| Outlook 2002 has now been configured for
use with the SpaceGuard SRM MAPI alarm action. You can
test this using the "Test" button in the MAPI email alarm
action window in SpaceGuard SRM. |
