Features - Actions
|
| |
Custom
scheduling and delay
|
| Every notification type supports custom scheduling
and delay settings. These settings include trigger delay,
trigger handling when actions fail and repetition. |
| |
Escalation
|
| All alarm actions can be escalated. MonitorMagic executes
an alarm action, for instance an e-mail message. If the
recipient doesn’t respond within a set period of
time, MonitorMagic can escalate the incident by executing
other alarm actions, such as a e-mail message to management
staff or an SMS message to the network administrator’s
mobile phone. |
| |
Custom
keywords
|
| For flexible alarm action configuration, you can maintain
your own set of keywords and define these globally per
agent. Once the alarm action is processed, these keywords
will be specified by the service. This will save you
lots of configuration time when for instance email notifications
should be sent to different staff every week. Just change
one keyword and all email addresses in all your alarm
actions will be updated automatically. |
| |
Start
or Stop services with cascade
|
| When an application has failed and a service has suddenly
stopped or crashed, MonitorMagic can start or stop individual
or multiple services. While Windows doesn't care for
application specific service dependencies, you can have
MonitorMagic (re)start multiple services using a specified
sequence. Take Exchange for example: it requires its
Directory Service to be started before any other service.
In this case, MonitorMagic will automatically stop all
services, start the Directory Service first, then start
all others usign a 5 second delay to insure all application
components are initialized correctly. |
| |
Terminate processes
|
| MonitorMagic can terminate processes (applications)
running on a target computer. You can even use MonitorMagic
to automatically detect programs you don't want your
employees to run, like KaZaA or other MP3 file sharing
applications, and terminate them immediately. Also, you
can use this to avoid locked applications by Dr. Watson
and have its popup terminated before restarting the application. |
| |
Command line, script and batch file execution
|
| MonitorMagic can execute a batch file or script as
an alarm action. This can be any kind of custom or third-party
utility. This makes MonitorMagic extremely flexible to
setup, as all commands including any keyword or parameter
are supported. Use simple batch files to delete files
or even execute complex scripts based on the outcome
of monitoring results. |
| |
Shutdown / reboot computers
|
| MonitorMagic is able to reboot and/or shutdown computers
as an alarm action, for instance when a critical incident
has occurred and the application cannot be restarted
without rebooting. |
